Join the Zamir Choral Foundation on its Summer 2004 Mission To Israel for Singers & Non-Singers
Once again the Zamir Choral Foundation is leading it's annual mission to Israel. This year's mission will include:
- Touring
- Speakers
- text study
- performance opportunities
Our mission will leave on July 27th.
Additionally, this summer we offer a special added attraction: the 20th Zimriya, The World Assembly of Choirs in Israel, bringing together hundreds of choral singers from around the world for an event that is held every three years. Participate in tours, performances, workshops, open sings with outstanding conductors and singers from around the world. Our own Matthew Lazar will be a major presenter at the Zimriya. This year's Zimriya takes place from August 2-12, 2004.
The trips to Israel are being offered in 3 different packages:
1. Mission only:
Departing NYC area late Tuesday, July 27th (giving you time to break your fast, if fasting, on Tisha B'Av) and departing Israel on Tuesday, August 3rd.
We will be staying at the Ramada Renaissance in Tel Aviv and the Sheraton Plaza in Jerusalem.
The cost of the Mission is $1835. The price includes:
- airfare
- hotel double occupancy for 6 nights (Single occupancy is $50 extra/night)
- breakfast daily in the hotel
- Shabbat dinner at the Sheraton
- entrance fees, touring and tips.
The mission includes speakers, text study, touring, and performance opportunities. Spouses and non singers are welcome and will enjoy this trip as well.
2. Zimriya only:
Departs NYC area on Sunday, August 1st to arrive in Israel for the start of the Zimriya being held at Hebrew University on Mt. Scopus on Monday. The Zimriya is over on August 12th and we leave Israel that afternoon or evening.
You have a choice of accommodations:
A. If you stay on the Mt. Scopus campus of Hebrew University, the cost for the entire Zimriya is only $1720. This includes:
- airfare
- dorm rooms- double occupancy
- three meals daily
- transport to/from the airport in Israel
- Zimriya programming and touring
For those planning on spending Shabbat in town (not on Mt. Scopus), you can stay at the Dan Panorama for an additional $128. This includes two nights at the Dan Panorama, Friday night dinner, and two breakfasts.
B. If you stay at the Dan Panorama for the 10 days of the Zimriya, cost is $2140, double occupancy. (Single occupancy is an extra $35/night). This includes:
- airfare
- 10 nights in the hotel with breakfast and Friday night dinner
- the Zimriya's programming and touring
- all meals
- transport up to and from Mt. Scopus, daily.
*Zimriya pricing does not include the cost of music. Once you have chosen the workshop you would like to attend, the Zimriya will provide the names of the pieces being performed and their publishers so that you can purchase your music prior to coming to Israel.
3. The whole Megillah- attending the Mission and the Zimriya:
A. The Zamir Choral Foundation Mission plus the Zimriya while rooming on Mt. Scopus is $2331. This includes 5 nights of the Mission and 10 nights on Scopus. *
B. The Zamir Choral Foundation Mission plus the Zimriya staying at the Dan Panorama is $2758. This includes 5 nights of Mission plus 10 nights at the Dan Panorama.*
**Please note: While we have kept costs as low as possible the EL AL fare has risen this year. We compared the prices on Continental Airlines and found those prices to be even higher.
There is a $100 registration fee made out to the Zamir Choral Foundation and participation in the Foundation's mission requires membership in the Foundation: $50single/ $75 family. (You may already be a member of the Zamir Choral Foundation. If you are attending the North American Jewish Choral Festival in July, you will already have paid the Foundation membership fee.) Airport taxes are not included. At present they are $77 for the round trip ticket and are subject to change.
